Reader letter

Good Morning Sally, I was able to get that birthtime finally at 5:23 am. After smooshing the internet a bit, I found that would make my rising sign a leo, which would make me a virgo sun, leo ascendent and aquarius moon, lol......kinda explains why I consider myself so screwed up because I don't consider these signs to be all that compatible with each other.

After reading it though, the first thing that occured to me was that Saturn is in leo right now and has been for the last year or so. I was under the impression that the ascendent was about how we present ourselves to others, but is it possible the great stress (messy divorce, child custody, moving states, going back to college, boyfriend with major medical problems, you name it...) I've had the last couple of years could be due to Saturn in Leo.

--L

Dear L

Saturn brings greater responsibility which can definitely be stressful and when Saturn crosses our ascendent (goes from 12th to 1st house) very often our responsibilities become "public." A messy divorce with child custody issues (which would involve the courts -- Leo rules children by the way) could certainly add to this stress.

Re: your sun/moon/ascendent combination. Rarely do I have clients with those three important astrological elements in the same mode or element. "I contain multitudes" is Whitman, and he was right. Paradox is endemic to human psychology and reconciling seemingly incompatible aspects is part of our journey. There will be periods in 2007 that will be more difficult than others, however, due to that ascendent. Thanks for writing -- take things slow....

ice storm

okay, it's not exactly a picturesque coating of fleecy bolster but what the heck. Today, moon in Sagittarius and tomorrow moon conjunct Mars. This year as it's started has been a kick in the partypants for the Dai family. But things are better now, thanks for asking. And if you're in the Fitchburg area, and watch the local cable access, watch "Chess Chat" with my uncle George Mirijanian....

waiting for voc...

...to be over. I am obsessed with SUKI brand beauty care products. When I did astrological tarot readings at ROOTS in leominster last week, Norma Jean set me up with a collection of samples. GREAT stuff. I lust after the Oscar box. As someone who has periodically and fairly successfully boiled up home-made remedies/lotions (ask me about the orange peel bath scrubbies), it is a relief to find a quality thing that I DON'T HAVE TO MAKE MYSELF. Yeah, how many cardinal signs do I have in that T-square? Heh. Okay, VOC done, time to buy some SUKI.... Hey, who's reading me these days??

a reader writes....

Hello Again Sally, Just dropping you a line to let you know I picked up your calender just last week! It is so full of information and symbols that my boyfriend jokingly commented, that I will be struggling with it the way I was with Algebra last semester. I'm really hoping to obtain the information I need to get you to do a chart for me this year. I've read that Saturn moves into virgo in the fall for a two + year transit and Saturn times are suppose to be tough, so I'm concerned. (as if my last two years haven't been tough enough already) I first wrote you a couple of years ago when I lived in PA. I tried then to get the information but failed. (the copy I was sent had everything on it but my birth time) Now that I'm back in KY, I'm on the search again, hopefully this time with greater success! Til then, keep up the good work! Laurie Thanks Laurie, Saturn returns comes the first time at age 28 to 29.5, but you start feeling it at around age 27 or so. This weekend at tarot reading at Roots, I had a couple of folks who had Saturn on their sun sign so their Saturn returns had been/would be extremely dramatic. As far as getting birthtimes, if you can ask your mother what her first meal was after giving birth: breakfast, snack, whathaveyou, sometimes that's a useful question. best S.

irresolute

This past year I visited one place for the first time: Nebraska, and spent lots of time at another place I'd only visited once, the Grand Canyon and other national parks in the southwest. I tend not to make new year's resolutions, although this year, with the full moon and its attendent high-tides so close to 1/1, I find myself saying, "let's go someplace TOTALLY" off the beaten path. As it turns out, most of Nebraska beyond Omaha/Lincoln is like that. Another piece by David K. Naito on exhibit at Fitchburg Art Museum
