I keep trying to upload pictures

and -- great, this one works. Okay, if you won't come to see Fitchburg Art Museum, here's something that comes to you -- Herakles slaying the hydra with Nike looking on. This is a fragment in our collection and the original amphora must be enormous as there is a very subtle arc on this enormous piece. Visit fitchburgartmuseum.org. or ANY museum in general....

...7 gallons of granola....

All this fire sign activity ignited my crafting impulses beyond what I anticipated, mostly because this was the year I was determined that I would not purchase any presents for Xmas. If I had purchased something for someone earlier in the year, that was one thing, but everyone is getting my calendar, or my moon signs almanac, or the wonderful herbal craft almanac LLewellyn published (I have articles in both), as well as things made out of buttons, beads, granola, sculpy, feathers, shrinky-dinks and so on. At this point in my life it is really amusing to find everything I loved at age 12 (making things, baking things, writing things, putting on shows) is exactly what I seem to be doing now. When we visited our cousins, my cousin John who is an engineer who builds things that go way beyond the lunar orbit showed us his upstairs toy room which is filled with power tools and motorized saws from the 1930s onward. Most of these sound like jet engines when they're going and he's got a block and tackle to move larger constructions downstairs. And we just had a visit from my friend Pete Greelish who is a champion scavenger (skibbie, in his parlance, string-savin'-cheap-yankee-bastid in mine) of objects left by the side of the road. The urge to create has been prevalent in the species for -- easily -- 50,000 years and probably earlier if you consider tools. Did you make any Christmas presents???

ascendent

From: "Steven Brzozowski" To: sally@moonsigns.net Subject: Hi Sally Hi Sally Thanks for your insights. Im confused. How do I find out what my Rising SIgn is ? Its the time you were born right? Im pretty sure i was born between 1 and 2pm on 5 Dec 1975. I believe that would mean Pisces or Aries.... And what does this really mean for me? Should I be reading about those signs?  Im really becoming an avid student of astrology. I bought 2006 and 2007's Super Horoscope book, and it is very illuminating! Thank you for your help!  Steven B. Hi Steven, You'd probably be an Aries ascendent. Rising sign is how OTHERS perceive you. Aries is usually considered impetuous, good leader, bad listener and with the other fire in your chart, the world might perceive you as flightier than, in fact, you are, or that you THINK you are. Lots about this in the Llewellyn sun sign books (they publish an annual every year). I've got articles in the Moon Sign Almanac and the Herbal Crafts book (also wrote the forecasts for their calendar, which is at moonsigns.net, hey, sorry about the commercial but it's THAT time of the year!) Thanks for writing...

Wishing a speedy recovery...

...to my uncle George Mirijanian whose unofficial title would be the King of Chess. He's active at Wachusett Chess Club (wachusettchess.org) and an all-around stellar personality. We are thinking of him today....

Readings, etc.

I'll be at Roots, in leominster, doing astrological tarot readings from 10 a.m. onward. And tonight, I'll be on WEIM, 1280 AM from 6:30 to 7:30 p.m. talking about astrology and taking calls. Roots is at 100 Crawford St (also known as Airport Rd), in Leominster just off of Route 2, rte 13 exit. Phone is 978 534 7668 if you want to book a time. The readings are $30/30 minutes and I have my ephemeris so do a quick look-up of sun/moon/mars. I have a tarot deck I've had all my life -- seriously -- I can't remember who gave it to me but it was always in my (ghost-ridden) room in the ancestral cottage. So, listen in tonight. I'll be on WTAG (580 AM) Friday at 8:45ish or so... Moon wise, tonight the moon is VOC in Virgo which thwarts any fastidious impulses folks might have!

Out of the woods

I've just had this great experience with Into the Woods at Stratton Players in Fitchburg. Smart director, highly talented cast, music director excellent at handling Sondheim score. As a theater critic in (mostly) Boston, I am usually seeing professional shows with a certain standard of performance -- technical issues, e.g., blocking, stage business, and production concerns are usually excellent. if something isn't good it's because the material is mediocre or, less often, a complete disaster (vanity projects usually fall into this category). I don't see a lot of community theater otherwise unless friends are involved. And so to have spent 3 weekends listening to Sondheim enthusiastically and skillfully presented was a total pleasure. Even scarier, it makes me think it might be FUN to be in a musical (tho I retired from all that at age 16 and mostly had done straight plays). I may have to wait for Brecht.

leo moons

Generally sales and reaching the public happens extremely effectively during this lunar phase. Hank told me the board was lit up bigtime at WTAG this morning. And speaking of the public if you want to see an exquisite production of Into the Woods in a tiny theater an hour west of Boston come to www.strattonplayers.com.

data

Okay, in the last month I: upgraded my filofax from Weentsy to Personal (so sad to retire the red leather filofax my brother Hal Cragin bought me for Xmas. We found it at the old Century 21 by the WTC, which was destroyed in 01. But now I can keep tons of paper documentation all in the same place. and I suffered with a complete worm/virus incursion on my old P(o)C (piece o'crap) which has aged worse than most. and so Mr. Dai decided I should try out a Mac system which I've never worked with before and now I'm typing on a new keyboard (on which you can actually see the letters on the keyboard -- usually my keyboards have the letters scoured down since I'm a 90 MPH typist and hopefully I can upload this thing. So, news.... My gorgeous new calendar published by Llewellyn is at moonsigns.net. It's also at BARNES AND NOBLE and BORDERS so I'm totally happy about that. And I did an astrological tarot reading at Roots (leominster) on Saturday and met some nice folks and was, once again, amazed at how useful cards are when combined with natal astrology. I'll be doing this again on epiphany (January 6). If you're interested in a reading, let them know 978 534-7668. $30/30 minutes. Roots, 100 Crawford St., Leominster, MA. I'm also teaching a class in lunar rhythms and reading your own natal charts at Fitchburg Art Museum on February 28, 6 to 8 p.m. that's it for now. I have to make more Christmas crafts. And find another place for my alleymanx cat Woojums to perch. We had a platform on my old monitor and whenever he'd get whiney/kneady/nutty he could sit up there but now....where can he go??? Anyone else maniacally high-function during this moon?
