Hot damn! Britney's back with a club banger

Despite the creamy Brit-step center, today’s new Britney Spears single is some white-hot shit. With the help of hit-making co-producers Dr. Luke and Max Martin, “Hold It Against Me” is a lyric-punning electro club banger that at times sounds like a monster Designer Drugs remix. It’s got all the elements of a 2011 club hit, with razor-sharp electro rips, waves of magnetic vocal trance and yes, even that wobble-copter dubstep breakdown. But all that matters is one thing: Two years after the release of hit-or-miss Circus, 29-year-old Britney is back.

"Seriously, I have the best fans ever. I love you all so much!!" Spears tweeted late yesterday as supporters (and a few rock critics) pretty much lost their mind to the new track, which was released to radio a day before today’s iTunes release. "Everything I do is for you! xoxo Brit."

Not long after warning fans “’Hold It Against Me” would be released earlier than anticipated, New York station Z-100 uploaded a video and sound clip (posted below) that quickly made the web rounds, making the song title a trending topic on Twitter. The comeback single is the lead joint off Spears’ upcoming seventh studio album (holy moly, seventh!!!!) due out in March.

Oh and hey, Lady Gaga -- you’re officially on notice.
