It's Brownsberger

State Representative Will Brownsberger of Belmont will soon be State Senator Will Brownsberger; his Belmont base turned out for him in today's special election primary to succeed Steve Tolman. The seat not only goes north of the Charles, it goes way up Tupelo Rd. (There is no Republican on the ballot -- although I've heard some rumors of organizing some sort of write-in/sticker campaign.)

State rep Jon Hecht of Watertown appears to have run an impressive second, but lost too many Watertown votes to Bob McCarthy, also of Watertown. McCarthy, who was endorsed by Tolman, ran pretty well throughout the district but finished third.

Brighton's Tim Schofield finished fourth, despite the endorsements and help of Mayor Tom Menino and other Boston pols. Allston-Brighton simply didn't come out to vote.

More thoughts and analysis at another time, but for now... Congratulations to Brownsberger, and folks on his campaign!
