Charlie Baker announced via Twitter this morning that he is indeed selecting state senate minority leader Richard Tisei as his running mate. (Why now? So Tisei can raise money in two calendar years.)
I think this pretty much makes this the most socially moderate Republican ticket in the history of ever. We're well past the classic "Rockefeller Republicans" here.
I would like to believe that this won't cause any hassle within the Mass. GOP. I don't believe it, but I would like to.
I would frankly be surprised if we don't see a more socially conservative LG candidate come forward to challenge Tisei.
The intriguing question is whether Christie Mihos -- who is himself socially moderate, including on gay marriage -- is calculating enough to align with a socially conservative Republican as his running mate.
