Q&A #1 -- City Pols And The T

"Andy" asks:

Michael Flaherty recently posted on BlueMassGroup calling on the state for increased funding for the T. (www.bluemassgroup.com/.../transportation). As far as I've seen, this is the first time anyone in Boston government has done much of anything to try and help out the T. Where are Boston's politicians on this matter?

One could as easily ask where Flaherty has been for the past several years. My impression has been that many Boston pols have been pushing the state for more T funding for years, but not loudly because there's really not much they can do about it. It's controlled by the state, and there are too many legislators from outside the city area, who already resent the supposedly disproportionate spending on Boston-benefiting expenditures. I would certainly like to hear more from them about the current transportation-reform plans.
