They're Dropping Like Flies! Now Daschle Withdraws

Faced with a tax problem, Tom Daschle has withdrawn as the nominee to be HHS Secretary.  And this on a day that the White House Performance czar withdrew as well because of another tax issue.

To put this in a little historical perspective, presidential problems with cabinet nominees at the beginning of a term are nothing new. The first George Bush saw his Defense choice John Tower defeated. Bill Clinton, of course, went through two AG choices before Janet Reno was confirmed.

The problem, of course, is that Obama was supposed to be different -- a breath of fresh air. The honeymoon is slowly ending -- quicker than one might have predicted.
