After two weeks down in Austin for SXSW it feels good to be back in the pilot’s seat of Boston Accents, navigating 120 minutes through the clear skies of our region’s finest rock, electronic, and pop music. And we now have a new co-pilot: Foxwoods Resort Casino – anything but ordinary! I do love me some Foxwoods, and heading down there on Christmas Eve, the night before my birthday, has been a tradition among me and my friends the past couple of years. On tonight’s show we issued a fuckton of new music, compiled over the past few weeks, so let’s jump right into the sonic clouds, shall we…

PRETTY & NICE “Yonkers” – New jam from dudes just back home last night at the Brighton Music Hall as part of the Modern Art Tour (with Geographer, Miniature Tigers and Chain Gang of 1974) as well as a bunch of high-profile SXSW gigs. New record coming this summer. Tora tora yessir!

JESSICA SUN LEE “Beautiful Girls” – Former Sun Lee Sunbeam and Secret Satellites voice going solo and laying down some serious electro fuzz; playing solo this Friday at Moe’s Lounge at Radio in Somerville. Hear the full Honestly, Darling EP here.

NOELLE “Never Too Late” – The current Mp3 of the Week in the Boston Phoenix, latest solo offering from Damone and Organ Beats singer.

ORCA ORCA “Say So” – Jimmy Hewitt’s Orca Orca project releases its debut cassette Make Live April 6 at O’Brien’s Pub in Allston alongside Abadabad, the Fantasies, and Cheerleader.

BEARSTRONAUT “Birds of Prey” – I went down to SXSW on a renovated 1986 Bluebird prison transport bus with these dudes (and the New Highway Hymnal, who are playing the WFNX Alternatour with Tribes Wednesday at Brighton Music Hall), so this latest single from the Somerville/Allston dance-pop quartet will always remind me of driving to Austin, and breaking down in Virginia, Pennsylvania, and Texas. Amazing trip.

GRAND RESORT “Recreation” – Latest track from Andres M. Pichardo, the flip side to recent single “Microscopic.” Catch Grand Resort at Great Scott this spring on May 25.

AUTOCHROME “Zero Zero” – Busting out a deep cut from the ‘Chrome’s debut record, which gets released Friday at T.T. The Bear’s on one of the best local bills of the spring: Autochrome, Young Adults, Soccer Mom and Night Fruit, with Flyweight’s DJ Rav spinning sets between bands. A+ all around. Also grab the Phoenix this Thursday for a balls-out feature on the band.

MELLOW BRAVO “Where The Bodies Lay” – New track from Boston booze rock crew, had to sub this one in last minute for “Ridin” after realizing Keith Pierce drops more than a few F-bombs in it. Mellow Bravo’s new record comes out May 4 at the Middle East on a sweet bill with Movers & Shakers, J/Q and Roadsaw.

SOFT PYRAMIDS “Vaalbara” – Pulled this new SoPyr joint off the As Built PR SXSW Bandcamp compilation Mike Rodriguez posted a few days ago, which is worth your time. New record from Soft Pyramids due later this year, following up last year’s solid Electric Scenes LP.

THICK AS THIEVES “Old New Amsterdam” – The band’s record release party for Practice Resurrection Like The Fox Makes Tracks this Saturday at the Middle East Downstairs will also serve as their farewell. Grab the song Thursday in the Phoenix as the next Mp3 of the Week, penned by Luke O’Neil. Respect, TaT.

PARLOUR BELLS “I’d Like To Think” – Did a quick Rumble preview on air, but you can read more on it in my Out: Preview in Thursday’s Phoenix; in the meantime, brush up on Night 4 of the Rumble with a new joint from noir-pop luminaries Parlour Bells.

THE DOCTORS FOX “Gauge” – The DocFox drop new album Handful of Laughs in a few weeks, April 14 at Great Scott on a bill with Left Hand Does, Sounds of Venus and Banana Phonetic, a pretty cool show of awesome band names and awesome band sounds. Originally pimped in the Boston Phoenix spring preview.

MOUNT PERU “Juliana” – Latest single from the friendly Peruvians, who release a new record this Saturday at the Middle East upstairs room with the NHH and Great Elk. This track also closes out that As Built PR comp I mentioned above.

VELAH “Glass Heart” – New project from Jen Johnson of Static of the Gods, playing this Saturday at...

FUTURE CARNIVORES “I Can Wait All Night” -- ...the Future Carnivores CD release party at the Tiger Mountain party at the Cambridge Elks, also featuring performances by Travels and Poor Everybody, and DJ sets from Infinite Jeff, bric-a-brac, and Cat.

YOU WON’T “Three Car Garage” – Bay State folk duo – on stage a trio! – kicked off the Ryan Smashing Life Outlaw Roadshow at SXSW last week, and hit Great Scott this Wednesday in Allston with Hallelujah the Hills. Keep an eye on these kids in 2012. Big things await.

DIRTY VIRGINS “Cheap Talk” – WOOOO DIRTY FUCKING VIRGINS!Sweet jam off the Tapped Out EP.

ANDRE OBIN “A Star Is Torn” – Radio debut from hard as fuck new Andre Obin track, the b-side to upcoming Valencia 7-inch, released April 6 at the pill at Great Scott. Obin also performs in skygaze trio Endless Wave, but his solo electronic stuff is really taking off.

GLASS T33TH “Holes” (Remix of Crim3s original)” – Boston Remixed this week comes courtesy of Glass Teeth’s Xavier Gath, who darken downs this Crim3s joint like only he can.Catch Glass Teeth at an upcoming Don't Ask Don't Tell pansexual dance party at Great Scott.

FLOADER “Forvar Expand” – One of my favorite tracks from 2011, getting all weird and shit here on Boston Accents. Hear more Floader here.

M.O.O.N. “Paris” – Excellent heavy house track from Stephen Gilarde, who has a couple of Boston-area shows coming up, including April 4 at Church with Secret School, as well as April 10 at Wonder Bar in Allston, and April 28 again at Church.

SPF 5000 “Doorknocker” – Latest dance number from Somerville duo tearing up the electronic music charts, this one just brings the heat. Pure dance floor crusher.

VIVA VIVA “Dead In Your Tracks” – Partied with these dudes down at SXSW last week, and will party with them once again tomorrow night at the Middlesex Lounge in Cambridge with CreaturoS and Magic Magic.

KRILL “Slug” – Closing out Boston Accents with a band gaining a lot of attention in the Allston basement scene… before we pull off the mask, or beards, lets just enjoy the music.

xo Michael
