Mp3 of the Week: Noelle, "Lucky Me;" tonight @ Radio
Technically? Not the first time Ms. LeBlanc has released something under her first name. Back in 2001, there appeared an album called This Summer, credited to 15-year-old NOELLE; RCA later re-issued it as Damone’s debut. Now, with a decade of trials and tribulations under her belt, LeBlanc’s new one-off EP Good Ol’ Daze (recorded between Organ Beats albums) takes her back to the start: bedroom-crush lullabies lured into synth-pop reveries. The melancholic undertow? That’s always been there, but now there’s experience, too: “bad decisions and new beginnings,” leading to a chorus that’s simple and sad and pulsing and true. The EP is on iTunes; download “Lucky Me” and below, watch the video after the link, and catch Noelle as part of the He Said She Said series tonight at Moe's Lounge, the downstairs space of Radio in Somerville.
