MP3 of the Week: DJ Knife "Strange Brew"

We’re stretching it out a bit this week, swapping our usual indie rock, hip-hop, and electro-pop singles for an all of the above 43-minute mix from Boston veteran DJ KNIFE. The Good Life resident hip-hop/pop mix-master dropped “Strange Brew” on an unsuspecting interweb last month, and with spring right around the corner it’s time to start planning those extended weekend road trip soundtracks. Knife links up both album cuts and remixes by Passion Pit, Chester French, Boyz 2 Men, the Zombies, Robin S, Bizarre Inc., and Phoenix, among others, and even intros off with a fucked-up, distorted and jump-happy drop of Michael Penn’s immortal “No Myth.” Looking for someone to dance with? Catch Knife Saturday, February 19 at the Snuglife party at Club 58 in Quincy, then two closer-to-home gigs next weekend: February 25 at Enormous Room in Cambridge and February 26 at his monthly Fresh Produce party at Good Life. In the meantime, daydream of summer and snag the mix below.
