Saturday's Young Adults' 12-inch release party at Great Scott felt like one of two things, maybe even both: a changing of the guard in the Boston scene, or just a really cool garage rock show where everyone got shithammered and reveled in the notion that all four bands on the bill could have headlined. Doesn't matter, anyway. Needless to say, there was a fair amount of "killing it" making the rounds inside the humid and packed Allston Rock City hotspot, and while we're bummed our Phoenix cameras missed openers Earthquake Party! and Doomstar bring the dirty sonic ruckus, we did grab some phlipcam action of the celebrated belles of the ball, Young Adults (posted above, before the pit broke out and broken glass went everywhere), and Girlfriends (with a brief in-the-crowd cameo from Passion Pit's Ayad Al Adhamy, who might be caught talking through the entire god damn clip).
So yeah, this party ruled. Clips of Young Adults up top, Girlfriends below. And catch up with Matt Parish's Cellars by Starlight column on the Young Adults lads in this week's Phoenix, currently filling up those sexy red street boxes.
