JOE PERRY's out of hibernation again, gearing up for the October release of his latest solo record, Have Guitar, Will Travel. He recently opened an MTV Video Music Awards show (see above) that no one will remember beyond one thing -- which makes this (at least) the second time in his career that Joe's been upstaged by a rapper on MTV. And Perry's got a well-publicized gig coming up September 20 at Memorial Hall in Plymouth, with an opening set from a new band called Continental featuring Rick Barton and son. (Yes, that would be former guitarist of Dropkick Murphys opening for the current guitarist of Aerosmith, so it's a distant echo of those bands' Mansfield team-up earlier this year.)
We also just learned through booking agent Dan Millen's Facebook page that the JOE PERRY PROJECT will be playing an intimate club gig September 26 at the 400-seat Fusion 5 club out on Route 1 in Foxboro. Short of someone deciding to re-open Mama Kin, this is about the smallest room you're likely to see a member of Aerosmith perform in. Tickets are $20 and on sale now.
