Our sources tell us that U2's secret Boston show will take place March 11 at . . . the Somerville Theater.

The band previously announced a three-city mini-tour of small venues, including LA, Chicago, and Boston. Tickets have been given away by local radio stations -- including WFNX, which gave away its last pair this afternoon -- but the venue has up until now been a closely-guarded secret.

Multiple sources confirmed this evening that Boston's gig will transpire at the Somerville -- the only small disappointment being that the band couldn't arrange a return to the Paradise, the site of their first-ever Boston show. Also, everyone who bought tickets to the Wailers show at the Paradise on the 11th -- on rumors that U2 would be playing -- are hereby delivered their shipment of fail.

Good luck getting tickets. If you can't, a bunch of local radio stations will be live-broadcasting the set. And WFNX will be re-broadcasting the Boston secret show -- as well as the secret gigs in LA and Chicago -- on (when else?) St. Paddy's Day beginning at 7 pm.

Hey Oliluc, the theater was renovated in 2006 inside--  aside from some old chairs in the balcony, it is much nicer than it used to be.

Word is, if the heat around the Somerville is too much by Monday, the show gets switched to the Orpheum.

Hall & Oates are booked for the Orpheum on Wednesday night. But the Wang Center (CitiCenter) is open. And the U2.com announcement says "a historic theater IN Boston"...
