Independent versions of LADYFEST have taken place internationally for over ten years. And next month, Boston finally hosts a DIY feminist music festival of its own, February 3-5 at the Cambridge YMCA.

LADYFEST BOSTON includes three days of local and touring bands. The line-up crosses boundaries of scenes and sounds, ranging from noise pop and garage rock to grrrl-punk and hardcore.

When Sara Marcus started writing her latest book, Girls to the Front: The True Story of the Riot Grrrl Revolution, she may have not been trying to spearhead a new feminist movement amongst young, DIY-minded girls. But half a year later (her book came out via Harper Perennial in September), it's clear that she did, and this weekend's Ladyfest Easthampton in Northampton, MA is proof.
