Sibilance: February 13, 2009

Coming up in Portland's music scene
By PORTLAND MUSIC STAFF  |  February 11, 2009

ROADSIDE MANNA RECORDS, the label inhabited by the likes of MARIE MORESHEAD, recently added roots rockers REPEAT OFFENDERS to the roster. Roadside will release the band's debut LP this summer, according to label president KEITH MCBRIDE. Catch them February 14 at Club Texas, in Auburn, or at South Paris's Crazy 9s, opening for TWISTED ROOTS, February 21.

HIGHWAY JACKSON are set to release a full-length on March 13 at the Big Easy. Called The Dirty Bar Campaign, the 10-track disc has apparently been funded through a series of cover gigs at some of Maine's dirtiest bars. Makes sense to us.

ALL THE REAL GIRLS have a release date for their debut disc, All My Friends Are Going to be Strangers: A Love Story by All the Real Girls — April 7. Still awaiting word on a release show.

• This Sunday (February 15) at the Big Easy you can catch a glimpse of the new JOHNNY CREMAINS, a super-group of sorts featuring local heavy rock scene veterans SEAN LIBBY, MIKE ANDERSON, DOUG PORTER, and RYAN FLEMING. Also involved is ERIK WINTER, who's organized the show as part of an engagement party. Congratulations, Erik. Go to the party and you can also catch Porter's surfy side project the WATCHERS and some stand-up from RICKY BOY FLOYD.

PINSKY's PETE VACHON has set up a recording studio he's calling STUDIO DESARIO. Currently in house are new metal group EVORIA, who are finishing up a five-song EP they'll be pimping in the near future.
