New In The Phoenix -- Mitt & Scott's MassGOP
In this week's issue of the Boston Phoenix -- in print tomorrow, online now -- I tell of the current campaign to select a new chairman for the Massachusetts Republican Party, to replace Jennifer Nassour who recently stepped down.
The likely winner is Robert Maginn, long-time ally of Mitt Romney and more recent ally of Scott Brown. The MassGOP will spend most of its time in 2012 fighting the Scotto re-elect war. It will also likely spend time responding to national inquiries about Presidential candidate Romney. Unsurprising that they would want someone they trust in charge.
Who they've picked may be a little surprising, though, as you'll see in my article.
More to the point, grassroots Republicans in the Bay State are none too thrilled about the perception that the party's resources will (once again) go toward the big, high-profile race of the election cycle, leaving the down-ballot races to their own devices.
