Baker Changes Campaign Managers
The news had been whispered, but now is out: Charlie Baker has replaced campaign manager Lenny Alcivar with Tim O'Brien.
O'Brien is a veteran (he managed the Kerry Healey campaign), and my take on this move is that the campaign felt Alcivar was a little out of his depth running a multi-million-dollar, statewide campaign.
This will be read as a sign of panic, but I don't think that's quite right. I think they had a chance to upgrade at a key position, and wanted to make that decision sooner rather than later.
BTW, I am told that O'Brien was in charge of the convention for Baker, which I think went off pretty flawlessly from Baker's perspective.
