VIDEO: French Open Interpretation: Love, Tennis, and Electronica

French electronica artist wears tennis shorts, stars in short film, promotes new album

Slow Hump Day? Nothing like a short French film from a short French electronica musician -- Martin Solveig -- who's convinced by his Jason Schwartzman look-alike French manager to do a celeb tennis match at the French Open to make Wednesday feel like a European Thursday (which is an American Friday, and a Southern European every-other-day). A few French notables pop up. (Or at least that's what the pauses in the progression of the plot probably mean, right?) And there's a girl, too -- a French girl worth fighting for, as Solveig fights to maintain his tennis dignity! Also Martina from Dragonette sings along as Martin plays. It's all very pretty and Wes Anderson-like and French with its short shorts and slight dramatic tension. Oh, also it's for Solveig's upcoming album, Smash. So a promo, but less plot-heavy.
