I Wore a Snuggie All Night and All I Got Was This Lousy Hangover
"Best Snuggie Pirate" contest at the Independent
The otherwise frighteningly weird idea of a Snuggie pub crawl
-- in which grown adults pay to traipse from bar to bar to bar wearing
fleece blankets with sleeves and getting sloshed with strangers --
somehow seems perfectly legitimate in Somerville's Union Square during
one of the most wretchedly cold weekends of the year.
Snuggie
enthusiasts and intrigued bar-goers suited up and poured into the
Independent on Saturday night to kick off a night of summer-camp-style
games like "Best Snuggie Pirate." [Above.] The procession (which eerily
resembled some kind of pagan ritual) slowly moved down to Union's
Precinct, Sally O'Brien's, P.A.'s Lounge, Bull McCabe's, and eventually
stumbled back to P.A.'s Lounge, where the Snuggie King and Snuggie
Queen were crowned.
