VIDEO: Great Boston Burlesque Expo [NSFW?]
The Boston Baby Dolls were to have had a zoning-board hearing tonight on the BBDs' proposed HQ -- which some local politicians have been attempting to tart up, as if they were running a brothel instead of a dance studio. Instead, the board meeting has been pushed back to May 19 [click for details], which will give the BBDs a chance to speak their case to local residents in an open public forum on May 6. We wish Quincy's residents and reps had a chance to check out this year's Great Boston Burlesque Expo last week, in which BBD honcho Mr. Scratch managed to assemble a fantastic program honoring the queens of Boston's historic burlesque heritage -- he even managed to get the Cambridge City Council to declare a "Lily Ann Rose" day to honor the septugenarian star of Scollay Square's famed Old Howard theater. For those who couldn't make it, we've got video of the event below, including footage of the Baby Dolls, Babes in Boinkland (recently named Best Dance Performers by our readers), and some of the stars of yesteryear. We'll be rolling out more footage from the Burlesque Expo later this week, so check back . . .
