Boston Accents 02.26.13: Caleb Groh in-studio, plus Mei Ohara, Velah, Burglary Years, Vio/Mire
Bittersweet show today on BOSTON ACCENTS as one of my favorite performers is set to get into his Prius with his ladyfriend and permanently head down to Nashville. It was a pleasure to have folk singer/guitarist CALEB GROH here in the WFNX studio with me, drinking whiskey, talking shop and playing tunes. Everyone here at the station wishes Caleb well down in the Music City. Here's today's playlist:
CALEB GROH "Catastrophic Culprit" -- From the Bottomless Coffee record. One of my favorite tracks of 2012. Also: Groh loves coffee.
MEI OHARA "Antimatter Man" -- Catch this electronic music composer and violinist perform at the Model in Allston tomorrow night and then at T.T. The Bear's on March 12.
VELAH "Knotted" -- New tune from Velah, released earlier this month; playing TTs on Thursday with Sean Bones and Boytoy.
LADY LAMB THE BEEKEEPER "Beluga (live)" -- Throwback track from the artist who just released the acclaimed Ripley Pine LP. Coming back to Boston May 9, Brighton Music Hall.
:: CALEB GROH LIVE PERFORMANCE ::
BURGLARY YEARS "Lifesaver" -- Thoroughly enjoyed this young modern rock band's set on Sunday opening for Beach Fossils.
CALEB GROH "Narrow Vestibule"
VIO/MIRE "Another Way of Looking At It" -- Underrated Providence musician.
GLENN YODER & THE WESTERN STATES "Younger Brother" -- Former guest on the show and all-around gentleman.
::CALEB GROH LIVE PERFORMANCE ::
CALEB GROH "Fruit Fly Gemini"
BENT SHAPES "Bites & Scratches" -- Closing jam with some bite.
