[tonight] The Death Set + Win Win @ Great Scott

Ripped right from the pages of 8 Days A Week: It’s a poorly kept secret that the best DEATH SET shows are in the tightest of venues and spaces, but after the Aussie-bred, Brooklyn-settled electro-punk’s XXXChange-produced latest lightning bolt of a record, Michel Poiccard (Jean-Paul Belmondo’s character in Breathless), Great Scott is as intimate as it’s going to get for one of the hyper-craziest live bands around.

Still recovering from the unexpected death of co-founding guitarist Beau Velasco in 2009 (check out the clip for "I Miss You Beau Velasco" below, maybe the band's finest moment as it emotionally crashes into shoegaze territory), the Death Set nonetheless bring an unparalleled fireball of spazzed-out, post-digital hardcore noise fury to each show. With XXXChange, Ghostdad, and Chris Devlin's WIN WIN also on the bill, we have one thing to say as you approach Allston Dance City tonight: Prepare to launch.

Here's what our critics recently wrote about both acts:

Off The Record, Feb. 9, 2011: Win Win, Win Win

Off The Record, March 17, 2011: The Death Set, Michel Poiccard

Team Robespierre is a hyphy/punk band from Brooklyn, NY consisting of Rex on guitar and vocals, ty and tomasz on keys and vocals, mikehouse on...

1222 Commonwealth Ave, Allston-Brighton

Great Scott has helped put the rock back into Allston Rock City.
