[phlipcam video] You Can Be A Wesley @ Great Scott
Go for the Bones, stay for the Wesley!
Went over to Great Scott in Allston Rock City last night to catch a bit of groovy pop Sam Champion wunderkind Sean Bones -- "Michael, it's more dub than reggae!" -- but ended up giving most of my increasingly-limited stage attention to friendly All-Bright neighborhood indie kids You Can Be A Wesley (full disclosure: YCBAW bassist P. Nick Curran is a valued Phoenix contributor). The Wesley's should have some new material ready later this fall, but the night wasn't so much about looking ahead as it was celebrating the present, as the gig marked drummer Dan Goldenberg's last dance with the band. We're pretty sure he's got one hell of a hangover this morning.
Anyway, the sound is particularly shoddy here -- well, even more than phlipcam usual... maybe I had my finger on the mic part or something -- so allow me a hall pass while I either sleuth out a better place to stand at Great Scott or slice off some digits. It was pretty tight up front near the stage, so I had to sideline this one, but you get the general idea. Instant YCBAW fan after this show, and the crowd was eating it up like whoa.
