It’s been a busy few months over at the venerable Camp Street Studios in Cambridge. Wasilla’s finest, Portugal. The Man, have just wrapped up a big heap of recordings, local guitar hero John Powhida has just recorded and released his The Kiku EP through their imprint, and this week, Camp Street will release the new full-length solo outing from former Six Going On Seven (yes we’re gonna go ahead and call him a) heartthrob Joshua English. Once again, we’re treated to English’s instantly recognizable rasp over a suite of smartly written pop rock, but this time, the swirls of strings, pianos, organs, and guitars provide a lush elaborate setting for his voice — it might be the best he’s ever sounded. Catch him on Valentine’s Day at Lizard Lounge, where he’ll release Kill for Sport, along with Jake Brennan and Scott Janovitz; in the meantime, grab “Sheep’s Clothing” below.
