Andy Milk of local power-trio extraordinaire the Vital Might has been scoping out Buddhism lately, and it’s leaking into his lyrics. According to Milk, “Saturday” — a song off their brand new Red Planet — is all about leaving bad habits behind (“staying up all night doing bad things, chasing after money/success, etc.”). We wish him the best of luck with this. If he’s been reading a lot of Thich Nhat Hanh and Chogyam Trungpa, he must have done so while listening to some Foo Fighters and Queens of the Stone Age —“Saturday” represents the catchiest incarnation of the Vital Might’s proggy, alty stylings thus far. You can grab it below and (even better) pick up a copy of Red Planet at their Middle East upstairs show this Friday, February 6, with Silent Service, the Lights Out, and Build a Machine. They’ll have just returned from their January tour — so let’s see how they’re doing with those life changes.

LISTEN: Vital Might, "Saturday" (mp3)
