2. BEST MUSIC POLL results are in: let the message-board hating begin. Dresden Dolls came out on top, and we ain't mad at that. Brett Milano's a little mad at Dropkick Murphys' "Tessie." We've been inspired by Clinton Sparks's relative anonymity among our audience: y'all are gonna get familiar in a second here. And with apologies to Converge, the best men won the "local" metal category, which was actually a way better list than the national metal category. In case you were wondering, everything Velvet Revolver didn't win, Green Day did. Pretty much. Though Billy Joe was nice enough to leave a few crumbs for Death Cab, the Killers, Postal Service, Hollaback Girl, My Chem Romance, the Black Keys, and (black people please don't hate us) Eminem. Something about the top two vote-getters in the rap category being white guys (Streets before Kanye?) makes us a little queasy.

Don't forget: BMP party this Tuesday; Pavilion (with Interpol, Killers, Louis XIV, Robbers on High Street) sold out, but giveaways on smash over at FNX. Tickets still remain for Lansdowne Street bash with Unseen, Lost City Angels, Dresden Dolls, Kaiser Chiefs, Raveonettes, Futureheads, Sage Francis, and more.

3. No disrespect to Blackout Bar, but when is someone in Boston gonna do one of these? (Link via catchdubs).

4. Tuesday Ticket Alert left-overs: Tony Hawkfest rolls into the FleetCenter on July 30, at which point the building will officially be known as the Garden (sorta) again. Tickets on sale Friday.

5. Did anyone go see Diamond Nights? Dudes are rocking some serious headgear on their new EP, which is supposed to tell you how much they sound like other people who like helmets.

Diamond Nights, Destination Diamonds (mp3, via band site)

TONIGHT:
Lawrence Arms and A Wilhelm Scream, Sam Prekop and James Yorkston, Robbie Fulks, and "Chords and Discourse: Hank Williams."
