Penny Arcade's Dickwolves Debacle continues

To recap: Penny Arcade made a joke that included rape peripherally -- that is to say, fictional rape by fictional monsters called "Dickwolves" -- and a few folks got understandably upset. Then, the PA dudes acted all weird and unfunny about it, instead of issuing a quick apology and moving on. Then, they put a one-shot character in a Dickwolves shirt. Then, they made a real Dickwolves shirt that you can buy at their store.

I doubt I'm the only person who's going to feel uncomfortable about seeing people in Dickwolves shirts at PAX East this year (and honestly, where else would you wear a Dickwolves shirt?). It's not entirely clear what the shirt's message is, but just on the off chance that the intended message is, "I think rape jokes are funny," at least I'll know which attendees to avoid.

If you want a shirt to wear to PAX that sends the opposite message and also looks awesome, geek blogger Kirbybits has collaborated with an anonymous graphic designer friend to make that happen. Their shirt design -- see above image -- says "Dickwolves Survivors Guild", and the graphic is a phoenix rising above the ashes of a dead Dickwolf. Take note that $1 from each T-shirt sale gets donated to RAINN (the Rape, Abuse, and Incest National Network).

If you want to know more about why Kirbybits decided to make this shirt, she explains her own position on the Dickwolves debate in this post on her blog.
