A very special Cinco de Mayo message for you, Arizona, from your pal Machete!

Happy Cinco de Mayo, Arizona, this one's for you. And by "Happy Cinco de Mayo," of course, we mean "Get ready for a hearty can of whoop-ass opened up and served directly to your face with a giant blade." Just kidding. But seriously, not cool. That said, we have confirmation! Robert Rodriguez's much-anticipated Machete is indeed in production. And from the looks of this just-released trailer, it is set to be every bit as awesome (ly ridiculous) as the original fake trailer promised us it would be.

"You fucked with the wrong Mexican" is serving as both a tagline and a political sentiment in this trailer, which Rodriguez convinced the studio, 20th Century Fox, to let him release in response to the current shit-storm brewing in Arizona. Machete, boasting a cast that is equal parts top-rate and low-rent (Robert DeNiro shares the screen with Lindsay Lohan,) is set for release on September 3, 2010. ¡Viva!
