THE STROKES went on hiatus four years ago after First Impressions of Earth and each member did his own thing for a while. But now they're back: they'll be playing festivals like Lollapalooza and the Isle of Wight, and they are currently recording a new studio album scheduled to be released in September. Julian Casablancas has been pretty upfront in interviews about the fact that the band are only really doing this for some cash (which hardly makes them unique among recent reunions - Frank Black and Stephen Malkmus both said similar things about their bands' respective reunions).
There is actually not really much news in this recent Guardian interview with Carrie Brownstein. But we hear "Sleater-Kinney" and "reunion" mentioned in the same breath and our ears prick up. Here's Brownstein:
"I think it will happen," Brownstein said. "We [just] have to loop
The piece quotes her as saying the reunion is possible "in the next five years."
Dem Texas boys support their own. I’m pretty sure that every rapper from within 100 miles of this motherfucker was at La Zona Rosa for the Paul Wall and Chamillionaire reunion. I’m still semi-blinded from the light dancing off all the cheap bling.
But first a little back story. Four years ago I was down here with my homeys from UnderGroundHipHop.
