Boston's Own DJ Slim Grabs Two Marijuana Music Awards

Full disclosure first: DJ Slim has gotten me stoned on numerous occasions. The most recent time was at his crib, which is only about one mile - or a half-hour, if you're driving after a session with his bubbler - away from my apartment. Just thought I would get that out of the way.

For those who don't know, Slim first gained quasi-fame in the Bean and elsewhere with his epic "Pussy Licker" song and video (if you've never seen it, take a few moments right now, unless you're at work). Other than that and a couple other viral weed and women bangers, he's known as that dude with pocketfuls of stinky fat sacks.

While so many rappers lack identity, Slim has stuck with this weed thing. He's sponsored by all sorts of bong and rolling paper companies, performs at NORML rallies, and - of course - travels near and far to perform with and for other marijuana junkies.

Now - after puff, puff, passing with him for a long time - Slim has made me proud with his getting "Album of the Year" (Hemp Hits) and "Best Music Video" ("I Wanna Be High") from the Marijuana Music Awards committee. Fuck the Oscars. Fuck the Tonys. And especially fuck the Grammys. In life we should all strive to win some sort of Stony off-shoot.

This disc is truly special; in addition to being hilarious and hella proper in the beat department, Slim also gets personal, and, on "Utilize Your High," he offers some essential tips on getting through your workday stoned. Now if I could only remember what the hell he said to do, I would be all set.

Awesome, thanks for covering my favorite hemp artist out there, Chris. I got to get over to see Slim at his place. "Utilize Your High" my soundtrack to my work days.

You know that DJ Slim is the dopest MC, not only in Beantown. My man came and rocked ATX, Austin TX, stealing the show with "Utilize Your High".
