Northeastern University students will leave classes tomorrow at noon for a public demonstration supporting the #OccupyBoston movement. Northeastern students -- who plan to gather at the Cetennial Common -- are joining students from UMass Amherst, NYU, Syracuse, UCLA, Duke, and at least 25 other colleges nationwide in a massive #OccupyColleges walk-out.

Other Boston-area college students are getting involved with #OccupyBoston -- as of yesterday, the Boston-centric @StudentsOccupy Twitter feed went live. CollegesOccupyBoston.com is live as well; the site is under construction but plans to connect efforts by students at BU, Brandeis, Harvard, MIT, Northerns, Simmons, Tufts, UMass, and others. Boston University has already established a BU Occupies Boston Facebook group and a @BUOccupyBoston Twitter feed.

Northeastern is the first to publicly outline plans for an October 5 walk-out, though:

“We pay hundreds of thousands of dollars to an education industry that continuous to mimic the irresponsible, unaccountable, and unethical financial practices of Wall Street," said one anonymous Northeastern student in a press release. "University presidents make $500,000 or more for doing so, campus workers are paid poverty wages and students graduate with outrageous amounts of student debt, in a hostile economic climate, with few job opportunities.”

“Do not go to school," reads the Occupy Colleges Facebook page. "Go fight for yours and everybody elses rights at Occupy Wall Street ... The time is now to join our fellow 99%!”

Are students from other Boston-area universities planning walk-outs, too? Let us know.
