Meet the Mayor: Boomerangs (JP)
Welcome to "Meet the Mayor," a segment in which we interview local Foursquare Mayors in
their natural habitats.
Boomerangs (Jamaica
Plain)
Rebeca Oliveira
Best thing you've
ever gotten at Boomerangs?
For "grown-up" clothes, a $10 cashmere sweater. Last time I
was there, I very nearly purchased a $15 sequined pink jacket. I put it up to
the Internet vote, and they told me I have no place to wear it.
Stupidest thing
you've ever seen for sale?
Oh, jeez, ugly ties and very unfortunate hats. There is always
a sad-looking fondue pot in the back. The worst thing I've bought at Boomerangs
was a copy of Tess of the d'Urbervilles
for 50 cents. I have never hated a book more in my life.
They had a Twin Peaks
motif in the front window display recently?
Yes, and they had a Star
Trek window.
The top three ways T.N.G. is superior to the original?
They're two different beasts. For what it's worth, if I had
to serve on the Enterprise, I would choose to serve under
Picard. If I died under his service, he would make sure he delivered my body to
my family, and would write my kid a glowing recommendation to Starfleet Academy.
Kirk would be busy trying to hook up with my widow, if I had a widow.
