Capitol Offensive: Occupy Congress delivers message of national disapproval
As legislators
returned to Washington, DC, for the start of a new congressional
session on Tuesday, January 17, hundreds of Occupy protesters from around the
country convened on the lawn of the US Capitol. The event marked the Occupy
movement's first major national action of 2012 - and the four-month anniversary
of the day Wall Street first became occupied. The gathering on Capitol Hill
held large general assemblies and smaller working groups, where Occupy
representatives from various cities, including Boston, could share experiences and goals
from their post-camp protest networks back home.

At around 3 pm, protesters set out on a march, many intending to
storm the Capitol building and visit the offices of their respective state's
representatives - an action personifying the current 11 percent approval rating
of our national Congress.
