VIDEO: Amanda Palmer covers Neutral Milk Hotel, Rebecca Black at #OccupyBoston rally
"I keep looking up and expecting to see snipers," she joked. As reported here first yesterday, AMANDA PALMER arrived at Occupy Boston yesteday afternoon dressed like an anarchist field general for a ninja gig on Dewey Square. After urging her fellow Boston musicians to join the Occupation -- and to bring their fans -- she played a short set that included Neutral Milk Hotel's "Two Headed Boy" (in homage to Jeff Mangum's serenading of #OccupyWallStreet), Rebecca Black's "Friday," and the olde English protest-folk "The World Turned Upside Down."
Of the three, by far the most relevant to the proceedings was the Rebecca Black song -- which Palmer has rewritten from the point of view of a truck-stop hooker. I'm not sure I've heard a better protest song this year.
