Meet the Mayor: The Raccoonmobile -- Meet the Mayor's roving photographer speaks
Welcome to "Meet the Mayor," a segment in which we interview local Foursquare Mayors in
their natural habitats.
The Raccoonmobile
Derek Kouyoumjian
How's
being the primary photographer of "Meet the Mayor" working out for you?
It has been an adventure. I've met some crazy peeps, and
I'm helping make the Foursquare mayor transcend into the realm of celebrity.
So, you're
mayor of your car - why do you call it the Raccoonmobile?
To sum it up, it's a line from a Kurt Vonnegut book involving
an Armenian character. He reflected upon himself as a half-tamed old raccoon.
Being Armenian myself, it took a shine to me, and my wife loved the sentiment.
What's the
deal with your car?
I love running things over. It's so much fun.
Your
favorites?
Used to be nuns and orphans, but it was fun running over
young Republicans at a Michele Bachmann rally. . . . This
interview is going in a bad direction, don't you think?
Personally,
i've found young Republicans to be very difficult to kill, due to their unholy
regenerative powers.
That's why you've got to back over them, and drive over
them again, sometimes a couple of times. I'm a firm believer in being thorough.
