Rocket Men: Reno 911! stars ready for blast off
What's funnier than watching the gang of glorified rent-a-cops bumble around in crotch-hugging shorts on Reno 911!? Watching them do it in zero gravity! On a spaceship! We'd wouldn't mind watching Lt. Dangle pat down an alleged extra-terrestrial prostitute with six boobs, would you? Of course you wouldn't.
Ok, so it's not exactly Reno 911!: A Space Odyssey, but U.S.S. Alabama, a new pilot ordered by FX, looks like it might as well be. Tom Lennon and Ben Garant (of both Reno 911 and MTV's the State hilarity) are set to produce their latest half-improv/half sketch comedy (hey, these guys know their niche) which will feature a crew of inept astronauts getting up to all kinds of crazy shenanigans whilst stuck in all-too-close quarters, in orbit. So you kind of see where they're going with that. We'd like to see old State friends Michael Ian Black and Ken Marino (very funny his small bit as a dead-beat stepdad in Role Models) tapped to appear as fellow spacemen, but first we'll have to wait and see if the pilot is picked up. Here's hoping.
