Mass Ave to get bike lanes

Mayor Tom Menino's quest to turn Boston into a world-class cycling city took another step forward today as the city officially announced plans to add bike lanes to the busy stretch of Mass. Ave between Symphony Hall and Boston Medical Center. The decision was announced officially at the Boston Bike Week event at City Hall Plaza this morning. This move seemed inevitable about a month ago when Menino called for the lanes about a month ago, but still, nice to have the official word. These lanes, along with new lanes on Harvard Ave that opened last month and on Beacon St and Comm. Ave last week, all represent big wins for the city's cyclists.
