The Globe Reviews McDonald's. Really.
I'm not sure who the audience is for this article, but I presume it's not me, since I already know that Wendy's is the choice quick grub establishment (so long as there is no Arby's, Chick Fil-A, or Sonic around). Anyway - maybe I'm just being sensitive, but this exercise strikes me as just a bit ridiculous, if not pretentious. (There's also the possibility that I'm jealous since I had this idea in grad school, but was laughed at when I pitched it to my former editor). You be the judge - here goes the best part...
KFC is edging back to its roots. The words “Kentucky Fried Chicken’’ are
now appearing on uniforms and marketing materials. Chicken, especially
grilled, is excellent, as are the biscuits and coleslaw. Shockingly so,
considering the frightening interiors of these establishments. The KFC
on Hampshire Street in Cambridge was so cold on a recent Saturday that
patrons and employees alike had to wear coats. Food spills and detritus
littered the worn, garish dining area. Best advice: Order the delicious
grilled chicken (or, as a treat, crispy fried chicken), some biscuits,
and coleslaw and run for the exit.
