She sings, too!: NY Times tracks down Spitzer's hooker on MySpace

Well, that didn't take long. And now we're taking bets in the comments section on how long it takes for "Ashley Alexander Dupre," the high-priced call girl called "Kristen" in the FBI's paperwork on Eliot Spitzer's prostitution scandal, to land a record deal. Today the New York Times outed Dupre, in an article that included a brief and apparently not too revealing interview with her, as well as quotes from her brother and mom. It also included the revelation that Dupre is an aspiring singer, of the rapper-backup-wannabe variety. In a new lowering of journalistic standards, the Times quoted at length from her MySpace profile -- a form of biography that is, in general, only slightly more reliable than the fantasy blurbs posted by Emperors Club VIP on their website.

Funniest line in the piece is where the Times stoops to getting all Brooklyn-hipster on Dupre's ass, describing her MySpace track as using "some dated slang, calling someone her 'boo.'" Hey, dudes -- did you fact-check that allegation with Kelefa? Because last time we checked, Chris Brown was still all over the damn radio singing "With You," the #2 single in the country, which uses the noun "boo" about two dozen times. Sample lyric:

Commenting on Dupre's MySpace page today was universally positive. No comment yet from her top 5 MySpace friends: Whitney, Madonna, Mary J., Amy Winehouse, Celine Dion.

In a shocking display of speed, however, remixes of Dupre's lone track, "What We Want," have begun to filter onto the internet. Best one yet: the dude who mashed it up with -- what else? -- Snoop's "Sensual Seduction."
