NRA reassessment: games and movies did it
I'm just surprised it took them so long to come up with this long refuted bullshit. No, it wasn't the Bushmaster assault rifle legally obtained by a homicidal maniac that killed 20 children, but video games films like "American Psycho" (2000) and "Natural Born Killers"(1994).
From the "Hollywood Reporter" account of the NRA press conference:
"Executive vice president Wayne LaPierre began by
expressing his sympathy for the victims of the shooting but quickly
shifted to a series of accusations against the media, Hollywood and
video game industry, blaming each for contributing to a violent society.
"LaPierre cited media (and their corporate owners) that glorifies killers, movies such as American Psycho and Natural Born Killers
that emphasize violence, and video games that allow players to simulate
mass murder. He called for the employment of armed guards at each
school, saying it was a matter of having "good guys" in place to stop 'bad guys.' "
I think we know who the real bad guys are.
