Bane vs. Bain?

If you're looking for a bit of a breather from the increasingly vicious Presidential campaign by checking out "The Dark Knight Rises" this weekend, you might be disappointed. At least according to some pundits, who think the issues are being acted out metaphorically in the film. I don't think I'd be giving away any spoilers by pointing out that the bad guy that the billionaire superhero Batman fights is called "Bane," not unlike the "Bain" corporation that is so much a topic of controversy these days. Well, the coincidence has not gone unnoticed by some commentators, nor have the film's possible political interpretations.

But is Bane a metaphor for conservatives or liberals? For rich people who cause economic inequality

or for those who demonstrate against it?

Maybe we'll just have to wait for the election to find out.

Meanwhile, if you're a critic and have any plans of voting no on the film itself, take heed from this.
