See this film: Under the Boardwalk: A Ukulele Love Story @ the MFA

Not since the salad days of Arthur Godfrey and Don Ho has this minute strummer's delight been so popular, and Nina Koocher's Under the Boardwalk: A Ukulele Love Story (2011) helps explain why. A documentary about the ukulele Club of Santa Cruz - "the largest ukulele social group in the world" - it also provides a concise history of the diminutive but irresistible instrument. Which you'll also get to hear played live, since the screening is followed by a performance by Maine's own Ukulele maestro, Joel Eckhaus, a/k/a "Ukulele Eck." The Museum is at 465 Huntington Ave, Boston | April 21 @ 3 pm | $11; $9 students, seniors | 617.267.9300 or mfa.org.
