[free download] Marissa Nadler "Devil Town" (Daniel Johnston cover)

Boston dream-folk singer and one-woman-industry-maven MARISSA NADLER has given us a tasty treat on this Halloween, a haunting cover of Daniel Johnston's 1990 vocal track "Devil Town," recorded recently in her Newton home with the aid of only a guitar, harmonica, and her voice. "This is for Halloween," Nadler posted in a note on her Soundcloud, where the song is available for free download. "One of my favorite Daniel Johnston songs."

Yesterday, Nadler was nominated in the Singer-Songwriter of the Year category in the 2012 Boston Music Awards, included in a pretty strong field alongside Mike Fiore (Faces On Film), Ryan Lee Crosby, Sarah Blacker, and Will Dailey. The BMAs go down at the Liberty Hotel on Sunday, December 2.

In the meantime, we'll try to get this included on our inaugural Boston Accents on the re-launched WFNX.com at 5pm. It's perfect for a gray-skied Halloween in New England.
