[getting paper] Karmin featured on the flip cover of Rolling Stone
They made their name by covering others, and now they're cover stars themselves. Berklee-bred pop duo KARMIN grace the flip cover of the new Rolling Stone, the result of winning an online competition for the magazine's "Women Who Rock" contest. Hey, whatever it takes, right? From the cover of the Boston Phoenix to the cover of Rolling Stone in 15 months, that's impressive. Here's their reaction, in press-release form:
“We're over the moon about winning Rolling Stone's ‘Women Who Rock’ Contest,” said Karmin’s Amy Heidemann. Nick Noonan added, “It’s such a huge honor to be on the flip cover of this special issue and it wouldn't have happened without our fans. We are beyond thankful to them!”
Awww, poor Nick. This is like that No Doubt "Dontspeak" music video all over again. Where's his cover shot?
Anyway, Karmin who are now based in Los Angeles -- and Gap models in addition to musicians -- also have been signed to Epic Records. And they just hit Number 1 on the Billboard Dance/Club charts for their second single "Hello" (which is not a Dragonette cover). They will perform on Dancing With the Stars on October 9, and be a part of the Macy's Thanksgiving Day Parade in (Dick Clark's) New Year's Rocking Eve.
Cool. It all started with this, here in Boston. 74 million views later, and boom!
