[tonight in allston] Boston Accents Funeral Party Night 2 @ Great Scott + Night 1 videoz
Night 1 of the BOSTON ACCENTS FUNERAL PARTY is in the books, and we're nursing one motherfucker of a hangover over here on Brookline Avenue. We left all sorts of shit at Great Scott last night -- our iPhones, our pride, Justin Lally of Earthquake Party -- but the good news is we're back in the saddle for Night 2 later this evening. And it's a beastly lineup of Boston-bred rock and roll.
Think of this as the Empire Strikes Back edition of our farewell trilogy, and if bands were bounty hunters, then MEAN CREEK -- who premiered the cover art for their upcoming full length, Youth Companion, posted above and out October 16 -- would be Boba Fett, booze-hounds MELLOW BRAVO is IG-88 (who had a drinking problem), SOCCER MOM have this Zuckuss thing going on (without being gaseous at all, even), and the DIRTY VIRGINS are 4-LOM. We didn't bother inviting Dengar to this shit.
Anyway, what makes even less sense than that terrible attempt at creative writing is that this will be the first time the Creek and Bravo have shared a stage, which is kinda crazy if you think about it. This will be one rocking evening, the Dirty Virgz get it started around 9:15pm, but the night's DJs -- Brad Searles of Bradley's Almanac and Jay Breitling of Clicky Clicky -- will fire up their sets at 9.
Here's the Facebook invite, which has the rest of the deets and advance ticket links, and below are some videos captured -- like a bounty hunter! -- by Mick Murray. Ignore my stupid ass in the first one, just skip ahead to RIBS' awesome Placebo cover. A friend in need, indeed.
