[nickTunes] Last-minute mp3: Runner & the Thermodynamics "My Woman" // tonight @ Great Scott

A resurrected RUNNER AND THE THERMODYNAMICS are back in action tonight at Great Scott in Allston, and they've passed along to us their newly-recorded track "My Woman," a bluesy, kickass song available for free download. It's been a classic live show staple from the Runner trio, and over the past 12 years it has made it's way into their sets in one way or another, so for the benefit of history, and this one night stand on Comm Ave, the band recorded it for everyone's pleasure.

"This is an older Runner tune that never got its day in a properly recorded (or played) way," says singer Marc Pinansky, he also of classic rock revivalists Township, "so we did it for the new single along with the new tune, 'One More Minute.' 'My Woman' was always a live favorite, but unfortunately something we wrote shortly after wrapping up the sessions for our lone album. Would like to think that good tunes never die, so here we are digging up its old bones and putting some damn sexy clothes on it."

You'll get the chance to hear "My Woman" in person tonight when they hit the stage with the awesomely-named Gnarlemagne and comedian Kenneth Reid, sure to bring the jokes and the Holy Roman Empire references out in full-force.

We really don't get enough of those in our day-to-day lives, do we? Doors are at 9 pm, it's 21+, and only costs $10. That's one dollar cheaper than a ticket to The Dark Knight Rises. Batman can wait.
