[free download] Soundtracking the WFNX Boston Accents Funeral Party (July 23 - 25)

To celebrate next week's three-night BOSTON ACCENTS FUNERAL PARTY at Great Scott (July 23 + 24 + 25; advance tickets here) we whipped up this exclusive 12-song soundtrack featuring all of the performing artists in the order of their appearance. As a unit, it's one sonic motherfucker and a great indication of our thriving and eclectic music scene and community, highlighted by a brand new track from indie darlings MEAN CREEK (an unreleased stomper off their upcoming Youth Companion full-length) as well as recent cuts from EARTHQUAKE PARTY, VIVA VIVA, GENTLEMEN HALL, BEARSTRONAUT, RIBS, MELLOW BRAVO, FAT CREEPS, BLACK LIGHT DINNER PARTY, and DIRTY VIRGINS. It spans the spectrum, as they say.

The free soundtrack also features STEREO TELESCOPE covering the Cure's legendary hit "Just Like Heaven," giving the nearly 25-year-old masterpiece a sleek synthpop shine from the Brighton duo, and rock quartet SOCCER MOM does a hell of a lot of noisy justice to Ride's classic shoegaze cut "Dreams Burn Down," a track that first surfaced a few weeks ago off Clicky Clicky's NOFUCKINGWHERE compilation. We premiered the Nowhere re-creation on Boston Accents back in April. As a nice tie in to the shows, Jay Breitling of Clicky Clicky will be DJing Night 2 of the parties (July 24) alongside Brad Searles of Bradley's Almanac. The track listing is broken up by each night's lineup and set order, so there's a flow to the compilation that respects our vision in putting these gigs together. There's a lot of rock and roll to be heard, but in true Boston Accents fashion -- at least under my watch -- it concludes with one giant dance party, which is what we'll do a week from tonight, Wednesday, July 25.
