'Let's Exile Pitbull to Alaska' a success -- and the rapper invites David Thorpe to join him!
We are pleased to announce that PITBULL is going to Kodiak, Alaska!
Phoenix writer David Thorpe's campaign to send the Miami artist to the furthest, most remote Walmart in the country -- via a promotional contest by the the shopping chain and Sheets energy strips that would send Pitbull to the store with the most likes on Facebook -- has been a total success.
The Walmart in Kodiak, Alaska (population 6,256) has won the grand prize with more than 71,000 likes, gaining huge momentum after Thorpe's campaign was made national by the Associated Press and eventually picked up on by Billboard, Gawker, CNN, NPR, Good Morning America, Yahoo, and other media outlets last week.
Earlier today Pitbull himself took time out from a tour stop in Spain to thank his fans for their support, and announce that he'll not only be going to Kodiak to represent, but that he wants Mr. Thorpe to come join him in the frozen north!
We're very proud over here at the Phoenix, even if it means we may never see David Thorpe ever again.
RIP The Big Hurt.

Is anyone else detecting a vague undercurrent of menace in the Pitbull video? I am almost definitely getting killed in Kodiak.
