Finally, a reason to go to Fenway Park this summer: Bruce Springsteen to perform August 14
On The Download had a spy in the trenches at Fenway Park a few weeks ago, and they came back with audio of this exact conversation...
John Henry: "The Red Sox are a mess, we already lost Heidi Watney, and there are empty seats around the ballpark... in May?!? How do we get people to come to Fenway Park in August?
Larry Lucchino: "Wanna see if BRUCE SPRINGSTEEN is available?"
Henry: "He can't pitch!"
Lucchino: "No! Plus, he hates golf. We'll get him to play another concert, like the Wall guy is doing."
Henry: "That's a great idea."
Lucchino: "Ok, he says he can play on the 14th."
Henry: "Book him."

Of course, Springsteen played Fenway back in 2003, so this is almost like bringing Kevin Millar back to town. The date -- August 14, for those scoring at home -- is four days before the Boss' previously-scheduled gig at Gillette Stadium. But as anyone knows, Foxborough might as well be on another planet.
According to media reports, City Hall still needs to sign off on the Boss' latest Fenway gig, but there's already an on-sale date: May 19 via livenation.com. And there are still a bunch of under-$15 tickets to see the Red Sox on re-seller sites like Ace.
