New video for "Howolding Girls" by Birthdays (who leaves for Japan tomorrow)

The new video for "Howolding Girls" by Boston's BIRTHDAYS (a/k/a Sammy Yager) is one of the more mesmerizing videos I've seen lately. Over an all-black background, flashes of Yager's prismacolor face paint swirl into neon clouds; mystical dancers express sun salutations before bright orange balls of fire pop and fade. The video is the work of the Phoenix contributors at Loroto, who experimented with cinematographic techniques like dissolving solutions, ultraviolet lighting, and degrading VHS tapes to create to the video's futuristic vibes and retro textures.
"When I first heard 'Howolding Girls' I immediately imagined bright
exploding colors," said the video's director, Addison Post. "Psychedelic mushroom clouds expanding in gaseous
nebulas."
It's fitting for the glitchy psychedelic pop song's explosive electronic hooks.
"Nearly everything was created using
live action effects," said Post. "Digital effects were employed exclusively
for color manipulation and chroma keying."
Fun fact: today is actually Birthdays' birthday. Happy birthday Birthdays.
